The culinary Geopark Ries
The taste of the region!

The Culinary Geopark Ries stands for the resolution, to work against the creeping loss through leveling and interchangeability of regional foods. The local Ries kitchen—the regional identity—is once again present above all in the cooking pots and menus of restaurants. The guest should be able to taste, where he eats and drinks. The regional kitchen is again recognizable through the use of locally grown products. Even better is that these unmistakable items are anew obtainable.

The Culinary Geopark Ries project officially began in April 2008 with the signing of the charter by the participating partners in the Ries Crater Museum in Nördlingen.

The Culinary Geopark Ries and its partners participate in events outside the region—for example, in the state garden show in Ulm in April 2008 shown here—in order to make the partners and region better known.

The development of the Culinary Geopark Ries
The way is the goal

The Culinary Geopark Ries project is growing rapidly. For this reason, in March 2009, it was necessary to define structures and decision processes. The trio of Günther Zwerger, Joachim Kaiser and Peter Urban assumed the leadership roles; working groups for event management, quality control, finance, marketing and member services were created and their duties and responsibilities finalized. In addition to a financing concept, regulations for the admission as well as for the resignation of partners were unanimously approved in the plenary meeting.
