Hiking in the Geopark Ries

The Geopark Ries is a terrific place to hike. A broad network of trails reveals the charm of an extraordinary landscape, from lush vegetation in the crater basin to sparse juniper heaths at the edges. Long-distance trails show the unique Ries landscape, and numerous regional paths can turn a hike into an exciting travel experience through a cultural landscape as well—most without having to master large inclines. Signposted Geopark trails like the Shepherds’ Way connect special features relevant to geology, settlement history and nature studies.

The routes of the trails can be shown on the interactive map—so that you can choose the route that includes the attractions that interest you. Click on the symbol to see the trail length, path description and altitude readings.
